Tamela Mills
Tamela Mills is a federal employee with the Internal Revenue Service. She has been with the IRS for over 23 years and currently serves as the Program Manager for the Large Business and International Division. In this role, she oversees managers and revenue agents, examining and educating large and complex corporate taxpayers. Tamela is a 2024 graduate of the IRS Executive Readiness Program. This program equipped her with advanced skills in strategic decision-making, leading large-scale initiatives, and navigating the complexities of government policies and procedures.
She is a wellness-focused advocate dedicated to improving well-being and connection. She has led wellness initiatives, mentoring programs, and leadership engagement efforts while also exploring innovative ways to support caregivers and families navigating medical crises. Her writing and leadership work emphasize compassion and the importance of holistic well-being.
She is an active member of the Federally Employed Women (FEW) Windy City Chapter, where she serves as the Nominating / Election and Membership Chairs. On the national level of FEW, she is the Nomination Officer. Tamela is also the National Delegates Assembly Team Training Coordinator for the Blacks In Government organization.
She is the Treasurer of the City of Blue Island Library Board and is the Director of Scholarship and Evaluation for the Association for the Improvement of Minorities. She is a youth instructor at The Emmaus Community of Faith and on the Board and Finance Committee for South Suburban Public Action to Deliver Shelter (SSPADS).
Tamela is a graduate of Loyola University Chicago with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Accounting. She has a Master’s in Taxation from Northern Illinois University and a Worksite Wellness Specialist Certificate from the National Wellness Institute.
Tamela enjoys spending time with her husband and sons, writing, baking, traveling, reading, and volunteering.
