But instead of asking whether or not any given tchotchke brought me joy, the question at hand was: will this become a burden on our children someday?
On this trip, I learned about the unspeakable horrors people of all ages, including children, must endure to come to a more promised land.
And at the same time, we are alike enough to learn both with and from one another.
The future is not set in stone, even if it may feel that way
I couldn’t point to any particular experience that would cause such a traumatic response to being in a confined, dark space.
A lack of a fixed identity can allow one to adapt to each new moment of service.
