Rabbi Neil Blumofe

Rabbi Neil F. Blumofe is Senior Rabbi of Congregation Agudas Achim in Austin, Texas, where he has served since 1998 (Senior Rabbi since 2009). A graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary and the Academy for Jewish Religion–California, he brings together Jewish learning, spirituality, music, creativity, curiosity, and a deep commitment to building connections across communities. Beyond the synagogue, Rabbi Blumofe is an active participant and leader in Austin’s civic and cultural life, strengthening relationships among diverse faith communities. A passionate advocate for the arts and interfaith dialogue, Rabbi Blumofe conceives of and hosts monthly conversations and jazz programs at Austin’s historic Cactus Cafe, exploring the intersections of Jewish tradition, African-American history, spirituality, and American culture. His community engagement extends nationally and internationally through teaching, travel, and humanitarian work. He has served on the boards of Leadership Austin, Texas Freedom Network, Texas Impact, and is past president of Interfaith Action of Central Texas (iACT). He is the founding rabbi in the Schusterman Center for Jewish Studies Internship Program at the University of Texas and has taught at the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and Seminary of the Southwest. He has been awarded a key to the City of Austin.
